Forty lots will be offered at an online-only auction from September 28 to October 8, 2012, with 10 further lots to highlight an invitation-only auction at Christie's South Kensington on October 5 marking "Global James Bond Day." These 10 further lots will also be accessible to both Internet and live, real-time bids. All items offered for sale will be on public exhibition at Christie's South Kensington.

BMW only had a prototype shell and a running test car ready, so Propshop at Pinewood Studios made a replica car for the film from BMW’s prototype shell in only eight weeks. The BMW prototype was made in two pieces to eliminate gaps in the hood and trunk. Two kit cars and one shell were made for the film. The shell was destroyed during filming, while the other surviving car remains in the possession of EON Productions
