A little history first - On March 1st 1965, OMEGA's Speedmaster chronograph was "flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions. It was the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency's severe tests under conditions of zero gravity and magnetic fields, extreme shocks, vibrations and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius.
The new 2014 Omega Speedmaster Mark II pays homage to the original design. The watch will be issued in two versions: a traditional Speedy black dial, and the grey dial with white markers & fluorescent orange accents.
- 42 & 44mm wide case, water resistant to 100 meters
- Automatic mechanical movement & luminous tach scale, a first in the Speedmaster family
To be officially unveiled at Baselworld 2014 on March 27. Price for the Omega Speedmaster Mark II watches will be $6,250.
