Instantly recognizable is his work with a rye sense of humour, always colourful and definitely original. Walker has worked for the world’s leading magazines - Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, American, W and countless others.
The Somerset House in London is currently featuring an exhibition of selected photographs, alongside a number of props which where specially constructed for his flamboyant editorials: life size spitfire fighters, enormous insects playing instruments and freakishly over sized dolls.
Walker’s images, aren’t front and center in the exhibition, but rather part of a larger narrative that he creates. Many early reviews mention the fact it seemed reminiscent of a guided tour of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, as they moved from room to room.
"Sometimes when you're taking a picture an extraordinary sense of luck and chance takes over and propels you to make pictures that you couldn't in your wildest dreams have imagined. This is the magic of photography." - Tim Walker
Tim Walker: Story Teller at Somerset House runs from October 18 to January 27 2013. Admission is FREE.
